Engineering Consulting

Our professional engineers provide expert investigations, analysis and reporting to assist claims professionals and legal counsel in determining the cause of a loss. They utilize their education, training and experience, a systematic approach, and the application of the scientific method to analyze an incident. They investigate a variety of incidents involving residential, commercial and industrial mechanical equipment.

Examples of investigations include:

  • Fires and explosions
  • Water losses
  • Carbon monoxide incidents
  • Failures of agricultural equipment, consumer products and commercial vehicles
  • Injuries and fatalities involving mechanical equipment
  • Heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) equipment failures
  • Computer numeric controlled (CNC) machinery fires

We lead and participate in investigations which often require:

  • Coordinating with insurance professionals and legal counsel
  • Conducting and participating in incident scene examinations
  • Collaborating with technical disciplines such as origin and cause investigators, electrical engineers, materials engineers and fire protection engineers
  • Personal protective equipment (PPE) having obtained 40 hour HAZWOPER training
  • Specialized equipment at scene investigations or in our facility
  • Vehicle and trailer to transport retained items to storage
  • Artifact storage and laboratory at our on-site facility
  • Laboratory examination and testing
  • Developing written protocols, test procedures and design of test fixtures
  • Obtaining and documenting background information and research
  • Analyzing incidents through the application of the scientific method
  • Preparing technical reports and presenting findings to clients
  • Creating 2D and 3D computer aided design (CAD) models and drawings
  • Providing expert witness deposition and courtroom testimony

  • American National Standards (ANSI)
  • Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA); General Industry and Construction
